Pachacamac Atlas
The Pachacamac Atlas publication compiles the work carried out during the academic exchange between students and professors from Studio Tom Emerson (D-ARCH / ETHZ) and Taller 5 Juillerat-Manrique (Faculty of Architecture / PUCP). In 2018, 45 students from both schools collaborated closely for five months to analyze the archaeological site of Pachacamac and propose a complementary infrastructure for the various pedagogical and work activities of the Pachacamac Site Museum. The Pachacamac Atlas publication is composed of two parts: a graphic and photographic analysis of the site and its surroundings through the specific perspective of some of the students participating in the project; and a record of the collective project designed and built by all the students with the unwavering support of Pachacamac Site Museum Director Denise Pozzi-Escot and her entire team. The constructed project, entitled A Room for Archaeologists and Kids, won the 2019 Dezeen Award for Best Architecture Project and Best Small Building. The PUCP Architecture Unit is proud to be part of this great collection of publications launched in 2012 by Studio Tom Emerson.
