Printed photograph 25.5 x 18.5 cm.
Without being autobiographical in the usual sense of the term, "Shattering the Light" as a photobook inaugurates an exploration of familiar territories, merging the protective presences and anchors in his life into a very personal first-person narrative. Turning the pages, one encounters moments or episodes in Mulanovich's continuous exploration of the topography of his favorite physical spaces, transformed by previous forays with a camera in hand; as well as the private spaces of the nuclear family, experienced as a couple and shaped by parenthood. The fragility of the world observed through the lens of masculinity, without equivocation or cover-up.
"Shattering the Light" is also an innovative publication that unexpectedly combines the photography of Herbert Mulanovich and a collection of poems of remarkable scope, the work of the outstanding Valeria Román, representative of the youngest generation of poets in Peru. A stark record marked by the inversion of the terms of existence:
"wait
the war
the health of old age
the glow of having no memory
rest from this voracious will
"what is hope" 82 pages
