The 57 photographs of 3600 / 4800 m asl were made between 2017 and 2019 in the central mountains of the department of Lima, during three hikes from Ticlio, Yauli and the Quiulla toll to the city of La Oroya, and several subsequent trips crossing one of the most intensely exploited areas by mining in the country. Crossroads of roads that lead to the Pacific coast, the northern and southern mountains of the Andes and the Amazon rainforest of Peru, the city, refinery and polymetallic smelter of La Oroya, on the banks of the Mantaro River, has been one of the main protagonists in the history of mining in the country. Lead, arsenic, cadmium and sulfur dioxide in the air, water and soil, made it one of the most polluted places in the world, today it is paralyzed and in the process of liquidation.
