About the artist
The ola/wave exhibition brought together different groups of works—tall monolithic sculptures, mixed-media print drawings, and flat, skin-like silicone sculptures—that the artist made during her three-month residency in Lima in early 2018. Simply put, the vertical sculptures occupied the space, demonstrating their presence, while the silicone pieces on the floor described a negative space. Through the encounter of the works, these spaces are inverted.
Esther's work is presented to us "raw," the surface considered first, not last. Strong entities play with each other, forming groups and views across the two rooms of the main gallery of Proyecto AMIL.
