Prisma I & Prisma II Puzzles, Teresa Burga

S/ 89.90

Number of pieces: 1000

Measurements: 70 x 50 cms

About the work: Prisma I and Prisma II are the last Pop art pieces Teresa Burga would create before leaving for Chicago in 1969. Some authors consider these works to mark a transition in the artist's work, as they link forms and themes of pictorial Pop with a mode of production that leaves aside the intervention of the artist's hand. Perhaps even more interesting is the fact that both objects were conceived with the intention of being manipulated by the viewer: their modular structure invites the viewer to interact with them in the exhibition space, rotating them, turning them over.

About the Artist: Teresa Burga (Iquitos, Peru, 1935 - Lima, Peru, 2021) studied at the School of Art of the Pontifical Catholic University of Peru (1965) and completed a Master of Art at the Chicago Art Institute (1970). In her work, she made use of various experimental processes to produce different ways of rereading the environment. Burga was part of the nucleus of Peruvian avant-garde artists who embarked on a brief period of visual experimentalism in the mid-sixties, aligned with the plastic arts trends that were current at the time at an international level. Burga's works have been exhibited in galleries and museums around the world.
